Privacy policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
This policy explains what data coom.im collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights. We keep it short and honest: we collect as little as possible.
1. Who we are
coom.im ("we", "us") operates this website and the services offered on it: claiming a name (a subdomain of coom.im), optional micro hosting (a small website, email and database) and DNS management. We operate from the European Union and our servers are hosted in the EU.
Contact: computerproblematiek@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: the name you claim, your email address, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Service data: the DNS records you create, and — if you use micro hosting — your website files, the mailbox(es) you create, and the contents of your database.
- Message data: if you use our email service, we process the email you send and receive so we can deliver it, and store it in your mailbox.
- Technical data: access and mail logs (including IP addresses), used for security and troubleshooting.
- Local storage: your language preference is stored in your browser (not a tracking cookie).
We do not use advertising networks, cross-site trackers or third-party analytics. The only cookie we set is a functional session cookie that keeps you signed in.
3. Why we process it (legal bases)
- To provide the service (perform our agreement): creating and running your name, hosting, email and DNS.
- Security and abuse prevention (legitimate interest): logs, rate-limiting and spam/phishing protection.
- Legal obligations: keeping records where the law requires it.
- Consent: where you explicitly ask us for something (for example, we handle a request you email us).
4. Email and hosting
If you use micro hosting, we process the email and files you store with us only to deliver and store them for you. We do not read your email or inspect your files, except where strictly necessary to fix a technical problem or to investigate abuse (for example spam or phishing) that we are legally required to act on.
5. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the parties needed to run the service:
- Hosting provider (data centre in the EU) — servers and storage.
- Email infrastructure — running on our own servers, not a third-party mail provider.
- Legal authorities, only if we are legally obliged to hand something over.
6. International transfers
Our servers are located in the European Union, so your data is generally not transferred outside the EU. Where that would ever happen, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.
7. How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is active; deleted when your account is deleted.
- Hosting data (files, mailbox, database): while the hosting is active; removed when you delete it or when your account is closed.
- Logs: kept briefly (typically up to 30 days) for security, then removed.
- Records we must keep: for the period the law requires.
8. Security
We protect your data with measures such as encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), hashed passwords, SPF/DKIM/DMARC on outgoing email, firewalls and fail2ban, and access limited to what is strictly needed. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.
9. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Data portability (receive your data in a usable format);
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these, email computerproblematiek@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
The service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the service grows. The "last updated" date above always shows the current version.
